Two Suspects Charged Over Bank Systems Hacking
NAIROBI, KENYA: Two of the 130 suspects in connection with electronic fraud by hacking into commercial bank systems have been charged .
Two suspects linked to the hacking of a bank system were charged yesterday with conspiring to steal Sh135.4 million from National Bank. John Gitonga and Paul Njoroge appeared before Kiambu senior resident magistrate Bryan Khaemba. They are among 131 suspects whom DCI George Kinoti is pursuing in connection with electronic fraud. Gitonga and Njoroge are accused of stealing Sh2 million from National Bank, handling stolen money and conspiracy to steal Sh131,402,700 between December 18 and 20 last year. They are also accused of electronic fraud with intent to steal and altering 49 clients accounts. The bond ruling is today. Earlier three others Patrick Wafula, Brayan Okombo and Titus Mwinzi were charged. Their case will be mentioned on February 15.Read More
